Cleft chestnut paling fencing is a traditional style of fencing that has been around for years. Chestnut pale fence is essentially a roll of fencing constructed of split chestnut pales in Cleft Chestnut Rolleither 3ft or 4ft heights that are wired together at intervals to form a roll of timber pales. Depending on the height chosen from the two standard sizes, either two strands of galvanised wire are used to attach the paling or three for the taller variation of the split chestnut fencing. The rolls come in 10 yard lengths (9.14m) that are easy to place and can be wired together to easily form a continuous run of fencing.

Chestnut fencing will usually require the use of fence posts at a maximum of 3 metre centres to prevent sagging. Oakdale carry an extensive range of tanalised pressure treated fence posts suitable for the job as well as a range of galvanised staples for attaching the chestnut rolls to the posts of your choice. If you are after a post with a rustic feel we carry a range of cost effective peeled or machine round stakes and half rounds that are ideal for use with this type of fencing. If you need a post that can be used at a later date for a different fence and you intend to temporarily use chestnut fencing we have a wide selection of standard sawn timber fence posts in most heights and sizes suitable for all the common types of fence.

Cleft chestnut fencing is an ideal fence to use if you need a temporary boundary or want to mark out a basic perimeter and can be easily rolled back up after use or if you need to change the location of the perimeter you are fencing.
